Wavelength Lighting—Project Manager

About us:

Wavelength Lighting is a rapidly growing LED lighting and networked controls company. Wavelength provides state-of-the-art lighting systems to existing facilities and construction projects. We deliver clients efficient, connected lighting at a significant discount to conventional channels by disrupting a highly inefficient lighting supply chain. Wavelength is a mission-driven company, focusing on accelerating the transition to efficient lighting through business model innovation. Lighting consumes 5% of the nation’s electricity, and the right lighting and controls will reduce that to 1%. That’s the equivalent of installing 800,000 acres of solar power. It’s that impact that motivates us to grow ever-larger and shake up the lighting world.

We now count among our clients some of the city’s biggest names: Barclays Center, Horizon Media, Blackstone, Yankee Stadium, and Columbia University. If you're looking to make an impact in a unique, dynamic environment, in a new industry, Wavelength is for you. The ideal candidate thrives in teams, has built something from nothing, is good with both people and data, and never misses a detail. Amid the pandemic and recovery therefrom, Wavelength is also developing and supplying UV-C disinfection equipment, where we leverage our lighting manufacturing network and bring our forward-thinking approach to anti-Covid solutions.

About the role:

We’re looking for a project manager with an entrepreneurial style, capable of the following:

- Managing a project from product specification through to final commissioning

- Owning every aspect of the project process, from representing Wavelength directly to the client to managing project logistics

- Building relationships across the project landscape—architects, general contractors, equipment manufacturers, and others—so that every project is executed perfectly

- Collaborating with the team to source project work; Wavelength more than doubles in size each year, and every team member contributes to that growth

- Contributing strategically to Wavelength, working with the team and management to improve all aspects of the business

About you:

The role will require:

- Bachelor’s or Technical Degree

- Organization, focus, and determination

- Ability to manage a team—of employees or subcontractors

- Excellent communication skills—Proficiency with Excel, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite

- Project management experience, preferably in a construction or development context

- Experience negotiating contracts with clients, suppliers, and/or contractors
