Wavelength partners with real estate and construction companies to deliver impactful, complex, and beautiful lighting projects. Our work drives the built environment forward, modernizing the way we control lighting while making real estate of all kinds more energy efficient. The company has two business units (Retrofits and Distribution) headed by seasoned individuals, and we work with developers, general contractors, and electrical contractors building a diverse array of projects. About the role


The Estimator will help scale Wavelength’s business by bringing in new projects and expanding our estimating capacity. The Estimator will partner with a wide array of individuals including clients, manufacturers, rep agencies, and the Wavelength team. The preferred candidate has experience bidding and closing work in the lighting or construction industry in New York City.

 

Responsibilities


Engage with the construction and real estate communities to bring in new projects by:

  • Building and maintaining relationships throughout the lighting manufacturer landscape, including representatives in New York City

  • Educating prospective partners on Wavelength’s offerings through in person meetings, phone calls, and networking events

Manage all aspects of the estimating process from bid invitation through close out:

  • Managing the takeoff process by overseeing estimating support staff to ensure drawings are accurately and quickly reviewed

  • Reviewing architectural drawings and documents, RFIs, and RFQs produced by the estimating support team

  • Interfacing with the lighting procurement marketplace

  • Creating proposals for internal and client review

  • Closing and buying out awarded jobs profitably and managing the handoff to the Project Management team

  • Excellent communicator: Estimating when done well involves clear, frequent communication, so the Estimator needs to have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Collaborative self-starter: The Estimator will be someone who manages themselves effectively with an independent work ethic while also collaborating with Wavelength team members

 

Other qualifications


  • 4+ years construction industry or adjacent procurement or estimating experience

  • Proficient in construction-specific software such as Oasis, Procore, BuildingConnected, etc.

  • Proficient in Excel, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Engineering or other technical background preferred

 

Job details


  • Hybrid position; office in Downtown Brooklyn

  • Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 annually plus benefits. Actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education
